\"Even undead should use door mats...\"

Even the undead should use door mats!

While this post may seem as random as any other, I was prompted to toss out this sketch by the gift of a new TV and a subsequent round of my favorite game, Dead Rising!  Boy, Capcom did an awesome job with the game.  I find myself running around – Lego-Head, katana, and power suit at the ready – exploring the in’s and out’s of the zombie-infested mall.  Of course, my pleasant stroll is often interrupted by the cries of folks who need saving.  I’m all too happy to oblige (except that punk kid photographer, grrrr).

Wizard World Chicago is right around the corner, but sadly, I don’t have a table this year.  I didn’t realize it was creeping up so fast!  Usually they hold WW Chicago in August, but dark forces must have been conspiring to confuse me.  I’ll probably still drop by just to scope out Artist Alley and to see some of the crazier booths.  While I’m not a frequent Comic Convention attendee, there’s something fun about seeing Imperial Stormtroopers stalking the streets in Rosemont.

Shout Outs!

After some tentative neck trials involving loads of laundry and some modest stretches, it’s business as usual here at the uh… “Slither and Friends HQ” (aka my basement).  And things are once again looking like a bit of awesome served in a bread bowl.

Last week while I was undergoing the trials and tribulations inherent to a neck injury – x-rays and trips to the doctor, I was wondering whether any artists had tried using x-rays as a medium for artistic expression.  To put the process as I understand it, X-rays shoot waves of energy through an object, and when certain parts absorb that energy, they leave a negative impression of the object in the film behind it.  Needless to say, artists have already mapped out the creative frontier of x-ray.  A google search will reward curious parties handsomely.

In other news, I feel slightly upbeat due to my upcoming birthday (this Wednesday).  Wonder what I’ll end up getting?

Classic Slither – “We Are W.A.S.”

Another blast from the past, Slither confronts his most sinister of opponents, the dedicated and fearsome women of W.A.S.

My thanks for everyone in being patient during my irksome medical troubles.  As soon as I feel it’s prudent enough to pick up a pen and paper I’ll be back at it with the enthusiasm and pep of twenty Rocky Balboas.

And apparently sprains are more painful than fractures… what’s up with that???

\"A Man of All Seasons...\"

Thanks to an injury sustained over the weekend, my ability to draw up Wednesday and Friday’s Slither strips has been curtailed – and I’m not very happy about it.  Needless to say, whether or not those updates will arrive promptly will largely depend on today’s doctor visit.

But unable to leave my readers abandoned without a comic fix, I went back and dug up some classic Slither Strips that one can view no where else!  I will be posting these up daily, so keep a look out.

Please take this as my most sincerest regret for being unable to update.

A Tad Off-Season

It may surprise you, dear reader, that I’ve been haunted with thoughts about Halloween – even in the soon to be sweltering heat of summer.  I’m not quite sure how to explain the phenomenon, other than perhaps the lush and energetic evenings of summertime often charge my imagination with thoughts of decrepit, southern mansions and spooky stories told ’round the campfire.  And indeed!  Summer is only the wondrous prelude to my favorite time of year.

But am I the only one with thoughts of Halloween somewhere in early June?  Apparently not.  During one of my endless dives through the Internet, I happened upon a fantastic blog of all matters Halloween that helped to sate my hunger for spook-filled reveries.

I’ve even managed to get the family charged up with off-season spirit.  Plans for our elaborate Halloween decorations are already underway, as the inclusion of 4th Quality Bucky Skeletons to our yard haunt requires a bit of extra planning.

That said, I do have every intention of capitalizing on the summer season.  It would be plain ghoulish not to.
